AI Smarty is the product [NAME] wished existed at every prior company — trained on your business, GDPR-aligned by default, embedded in one line. [NAME] is responsible for product direction, customer relationships, and making sure the boring-important things — data residency, sub-processors, audit logs — stay defaults rather than upsells. Outside of work, you’ll find [NAME] running between Sheffield and the Peak District, usually arguing with a dog about whether climbing a stile counts as a walk.

[NAME] is co-founder and CTO at AI Smarty. With a background in distributed systems and AI infrastructure, [NAME] has spent the last decade-plus shipping production AI features at companies of every size — from a two-person fintech that grew into something larger, to platforms handling tens of millions of conversations a month. At AI Smarty, [NAME] owns the engineering org and the architecture: the hybrid RAG pipeline, the multi-tenant data model, the worker queues, and the boring stack hygiene that keeps everything fast and cheap to run. [NAME]’s strongly held views: the right number of microservices is fewer than you think, customer data doesn’t belong in someone else’s training set, and the EU has been right about most of this for a while. Off the keyboard, [NAME] is a competent guitarist and an extremely confident chess player.
