Canonical page: https://aismarty.com/tools/sitemap-urls-comparison

## Purpose

Compare an older and a newer version of a sitemap. See which URLs were added, which were removed and how many stayed, including those whose lastmod changed.

## How to use this tool

1. Paste or open the older sitemap in the first box and the newer one in the second.
2. Choose Compare sitemaps. Everything runs in your browser.
3. Review added and removed URLs, then download the lists.

## Example inputs

## Limits and what to check

It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Each sitemap is limited to 2 MB and 50,000 entries, and larger input is refused rather than cut short. Added means in the newer sitemap only and removed means in the older sitemap only. URLs are matched with a lowercase scheme and host and without fragments.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which direction is the comparison?

Added means in the newer sitemap but not the older one. Removed means in the older sitemap but not the newer one. Swap the boxes to reverse it.

### Are both sitemaps compared on my device?

Yes. The comparison runs in your browser and nothing is sent to AI Smarty. Each input is limited to 2 MB.

### Are lastmod changes shown?

Yes. URLs present in both files are counted as kept, and those whose lastmod date changed are counted separately.

### Is a removed URL a problem?

Not always. Check whether the page was deliberately retired or redirected. An unintended removal can make a page harder to discover.
