Convert a Word document into Markdown. Headings, lists, links, bold, italic and simple tables are kept, so the result is a good starting point for editing or publishing.

## How to use this tool

2. Complete the verification and choose Convert to Markdown.
3. Review the Markdown, then copy or download it.

## Limits and what to check

The file is uploaded for conversion (2 MB maximum), scanned for viruses and not stored once the conversion finishes. Images are dropped and complex layouts may be simplified, so compare the result with the original before you publish it.

### What is kept from my document?

Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, lists, links and simple tables. Images, comments and page layout are not included. Legacy DOC files are not supported.

### Is my Word file kept after conversion?

No. The DOCX is scanned for viruses and converted on our server, then discarded. Only your browser receives the Markdown.

### What size of Word file can I convert?

DOCX files of up to 2 MB. Larger files and legacy DOC files are refused rather than partly converted.

### Does the Word to Markdown conversion use AI?

No. The conversion is rule-based and repeatable, so the same file always gives the same Markdown. Human verification and a free daily limit apply.
